Project Description

Elsie Allen High School is organized with varied outdoor spaces, each with their own distinct identity.  The main outdoor space is designed as an activities quad for public events. This quad is surrounded by the community and public functions of the school such as Administration, Performing Arts, Library, and Gymnasium.  The campus plan is organized so that the student body can be restructured into four core groups which will accommodate smaller, more intimate educational and social settings. Each core group has its own academic courtyard and architectural identity that include staff, resource and support spaces.  A state of the art data network links all of the spaces within the campus.

In 2008 AXIA provided complete design services for renovation of the athletic fields that included transformation of existing facilities into a 400-meter, 8-lane, all weather synthetic running track in a wider configuration to allow for a new synthetic turf football/soccer/rugby field and 1200-seat visitor bleachers.  Master planning design services also included future phases for concession stand and restroom improvements and four synthetic turf fields including two baseball fields and two softball fields.
