On a cresting knoll surrounded by Oak and Fir trees, this unique site was both majestic and unassuming. The site provided captive 360 degree views through the trees of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and vineyards. The design of the house celebrated a procession of experiential qualities throughout the day. Grounded in California hacienda roots the house engages courtyards and arcades supporting a seamless indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Passive cooling techniques, thermal mass strategies, solar shading, radiant floor heating, and a future photovoltaic field were incorporated to support an environmentally friendly architecture.
