Mayacama Hills Residence
On a cresting knoll surrounded by Oak and Fir trees, this unique site was both majestic and unassuming. The site provided captive 360-degree views through the trees of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and vineyards. The design of the house celebrated a procession of experiential qualities throughout the day. Grounded in California hacienda roots the house engages courtyards and arcades supporting a seamless indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Passive cooling techniques, thermal mass strategies, solar shading, radiant floor heating, and a future photovoltaic field were incorporated to support an environmentally friendly architecture.
