West Entry
The West Entry Project creates a distinct and identifiable neighborhood where nothing existed before. At the core of the project are green building and socially conscious principles that are applied uniquely in an urban residential fabric. The project is modeled on traditional city blocks that include town homes, flats, plazas, promenades, and mixed-use buildings. In a unique challenge, the developer asked the design team to take the project “off the electrical grid” and create a “carbon neutral” neighborhood. The design incorporates photovoltaics, efficient mechanical systems, thermal mass, night cooling shafts, and solar shading devices. The project has been selected by the LEED organization to participate in their pilot residential program.
